Our Origins and Mission:
SunnyData began as the brainchild of Allen Becker, a seasoned engineer with over a decade of experience, particularly as an architect in Databricks projects. Joining him are Kai Thapa, Santiago Carrera and Jeronimo Acosta, each bringing a wealth of expertise and a unique perspective to SunnyData.
SunnyData is devoted to the critical field of Data Engineering & AI. Our experienced and certified engineers ensure foundational strength for data projects, paving the way for advanced AI and analytics applications on the Databricks platform.
Why did we come together as SunnyData?
Many consulting firms stretch their focus across multiple platforms, rarely specializing deeply in one, and often gravitate towards BI/analytics without a robust data engineering backbone. Recognizing the vast potential of a firm grounded in solid software engineering and data engineering principles, specifically tailored to the Databricks platform, we founded SunnyData.
Our belief in Databricks as a pivotal force in the data cloud ecosystem drives us. We aim to deliver projects on time and within budget, establishing a strong data engineering foundation for lasting business success. With experienced founders at the helm, SunnyData is poised to transform Databricks implementations.

Kai Thapa
- CEO
Kai brings 20 plus years of software and data product development and sales expertise at various startups. He also brings deep architecture and practical deployment expertise on data analytics, data governance and data management to large Fortune 500 customers with a proven track record of delivery and sales at Informatica, SnapLogic and Alation. Kai also brings 20 years plus of healthcare domain expertise. Kai leads our go-to-market strategy, provides project delivery oversight and drives overall company strategy.
Jeronimo Acosta
- VP of Partnerships and LATAM Delivery
Founded various international businesses with 2 successful exits. Among them we can highlight a data engineering company named Nooka Labs (acquired by phData). Jeronimo loves and excels at building delivery teams and scaling them in Latin America delivering US-centric solutions with nearshore teams from Latin America.
Allen M. Becker
- Principal Solutions Architect.
A seasoned engineer with over a decade of experience, particularly as an architect in Databricks projects. With both leadership and hands-on roles working in banks and credit companies like Bank United and American Express, Allen acquired deep knowledge of the Financial Services, its use cases and its regulations.
Santiago Carrera
- CTO
Passionate for Apache Spark and a Databricks expert, he was a founding engineer at Montevideo Data Labs, where he grew delivery team to 120+ data engineers and architects
